"This year, we will only be able to produce between 500,000 tons and 700,000 tons because the overall coal production is still unstable," PT Timah's corporate secretary Prasetyo Budi Saksono said, adding that achieving the company's initial target of producing one million tons of coal would be difficult at the current stage.
At present, PT Timah through its subsidiaries PT Timah Investasi Mineral and PT Tambang Timah operates a coal mine in South Kalimantan called PT. tanjung Alam Jaya as part of the company's diversification plan.
PT Timah, one of the world's largest tin producer, plans to acquire a number of coal mining companies to further increase its coal production. At present, PT Timah sells its coal to a number of buyers in South Korea. (*)
