Timah fails to find gold in North Sumatra

PT Timah Investasi Mineral, a subsidiary of state tin mining company PT Timah has stopped gold exploration activities in Natal area in North Sumatra after failing to find a gold deposit with economic value after three years of exploration.
Head of the province's mines and energy office Armir Faizal Suud said the company had spent Rp 8.4 billion for the exploration activities over the past three years.
He said several mining companies were still doing exploration activities in the province, including PT Danau Toba Mining in North Tapanuli and Central Tapanuli; PT Sorik Mas Mining in Kotanopan district; PT Dairi Prima Mining in Dairi regency; and PT Aneka Tambang in Simalungun and Karo regencies.
