IDX-listed tin giant PT Timah Tbk and nine other tin miners have applied for export recommendation letter with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) in a bid to be able to resume export, Kontan reported on Tuesday.
The paper quoted ministry senior official Syamsu Dalien as saying that the ministry is currently evaluating their requests.
Following the recent introduction of a new Minister of Trade regulation, tin miners must obtain export permit from the ministry to be able to resume export. To get the export permit, the miners must first obtain recommendation letter from the MEMR.
Timah Corporate Secretary Agung Nugroho acknowledged his company has yet to be able to make export since the introduction of the new export regulation this month. ?If until end of August we still could not make export, then it will be a problem,? he said. (*)
