Timah?s rare earth processing plant to start production 2015

IDX-listed tin giant PT Timah Tbk expects its rare earth mineral processing plant in Mentok, West Bangka regency, Bangka-Belitung Province to start production in the first semester of 2015, Investor Daily reported on Monday.
The paper quoted company Corporate Secretary Agung Nugroho as saying that the Rp 20 billion plant would have a production capacity of 40-50 kg per day, processing slag from the company?s tin smelters.
?All are on track, and in the first semester of 2015, it can start production,? he said.
Agung said that among of the high economic value rare earth minerals are lanthanum (la), cerium (ce), praseodymium, (pr) and neodymium, all of which are important raw materials in telecommunications and technology equipment industries.
He added that Japan has expressed interest to purchase the output of Timah?s rare-earth processing plant. (*)
