Timah seeks partner to build tin-based chemical processing plant

Publicly-listed tin producer PT Timah Tbk is seeking a partner to build a tin-based chemical processing plant with an estimated investment of US$50 million, Bisnis Indonesia reported Wednesday.

 

Timah's commissioner R. Sukhyar said in Jakarta Tuesday that the company wanted its product to have an added value and for that reason it would build a tin-based chemical processing plant.

 

“Many companies need tin for different purposes. That’s what we want to develop it (tin) so that the product has an added value,” he said.

 

Tin is widely used for soldering and food cans. (*)
