Timah sold 841,971 tons of coal in H1

State-owned tin miner PT Timah Tbk sold around 841,971 tons of coal on the first half year of 2006, a significant increase compared to 175,541 tons in same period last year, a company official said Thursday.

Timah corporate secretary Prasetyo B Saksono said about 567,984 tons of the sales figure was produced by Timah?s subsidiary PT Tanjung Alam Jaya (TAJ), while the remaining portion obtained through other subsidiary PT Timah Investasi Mineral (TIM) from other coal producers.

Prasetyo said most of the products shipped to Japan and Korea.

He added the sales figure was expected to reach 1.2-1.5 million tons of coal this year.

TAJ operates a 9,721-heactare coal mine in Banjar regency, South Kalimantan province. Meanwhile, TIM is Timah?s coal trading arm. (denny)
