IDX-listed tin giant PT Timah Tbk is currently waiting for green light from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources over its plan to develop a 2x150 MW coal-fired power plant near its coal concession in Tanjung Enim, South Sumatra.
Timah President Director Sukrisno said on Thursday that the company will team up with IDX-listed construction firm PT Adhi Karya Tbk in the project, to be majority owned by Timah.
Sukrisno said that Timah?s Tanjung Enim coal concession is estimated to have 60 million tons of reserves, sufficient to support the plant power plant for 30 years.
Sukrisno said that the company was looking to take advantage of the easing investment procedure in the country?s power sector as the government aims to push power plant development to support higher economic growth.
