Timah to build new smelter

IDX-listed tin giant PT Timah Tbk plans to build a new smelter in Belitung Timur Regency, Bangka Belitung Province, this year anticipating higher tin ore production, Kontan reported Saturday.
The paper quoted Timah Corporate Secretary Agung Nugroho as saying that construction of the Rp 40 billion smelter, which will have a production capacity of 3,000 tons per year, will start in April.
Timah currently operates two smelters in Kundur, Riau Islands, and in Muntok, West Bangka. (*)
