Timah to produce 60,000 tons of tin next year

JSX-listed state tin miner PT Timah plans to increase production to up to 60,000 tons in 2008 from 54,000 ? 55,000 ton this year.

Commissioner R. Sukhyar said in Jakarta on Friday that Timah?s tin production reached 47,000 tons as of September this year, of which 95 percent were exported.

According to him, the government would limit Indonesia's tin exports to 90,000 tons next year in a bid to support tin prices.

Average tin price received in the third quarter of 2007 was US$ 14,905 per tonne, or 71 % higher than that of the same period last year, while the average price received during the first nine months of 2007 was $ 13,974 per tonne, or 67% higher than that of the same period in 2006, Timah said in quarterly report on Oct 31, 2007.
