Indonesia’s tin exports this year are predicted to equal last year’s 118,555 tons worth US$913 million.

“We are hoping they will increase but it is likely they will be that much (like last year),” director general of foreign trade Diah Maulida said here on Monday as quoted by Antara news agency.

Tin bar exports in June reached 10,684.07 tons worth $145.2 million. In May the exports reached only 9,961.45 tons.

Total export until June has reached 31,432.23 tons worth of $427.7 million, she said.

Only five out of 14 registered exporters had been engaged in the tin exports, with the largest volume in June exported by PT Tambang Timah reaching 6,610 tons and the lowest at 430 tons by PT Koba Tin. The other three companies exported around 1,200 tons.

She said that the value of the tin exports would rise, as the price of tin bars remained high at $15,000 per ton. (*)
