PT Titan Mining Indonesia's coal concession in Bengkulu, operated by subsidiary PT Titan Wijaya, will more than double production to 2.5 million tons this year following the completion of its own Kota Bani Port in North Bengkulu Regency last year.

Previously, PT Titan Wijaya limited production at 1 million tons due to the long distance of hauling road to the Pulau Baii Port at about 180 kilometers.

"Now, it only takes 20 kilometers to reach our own port. We can save about US$10 per ton," Titan Group's Business Development Director Tjhie Sugianto said to Petromindo.com.

He added that the group is very optimistic to be able to ramp up coal production volume to 3.5 million to 4.5 million tons per year in the future. The company spent about $40 million of investment to build the port, which started commissioning in September 2013.

The Kota Bani Port is equipped with a 1,500 tons per hour capacity conveyor and 200 to 500 tons per ton manual loading facility. It can dock 300 feet barge with 7,500 tons of capacity.
