Mitra Energy Limited announced its majority owned subsidiary Titan Resources (Natuna) Indonesia Ltd., the operator of NE Natuna PSC, has plugged and abandoned the Durian Besar Deep-1 (DBD-1) well it spudded in early September.

It reported that the well penetrated a probable 30 meter gas column within the mid Terumbu limestone, some distance above the primary objective clastics of Arang and Gabus Formations.

The well had to be plugged and abandoned (with the ability to re-enter) at 2007 meter due to operational concerns. The well was drilled by the Diamond Offshore-owned and operated semi-submersible drilling rig Ocean General.

Mitra owns 66.67 percent stake in Titan. GS Caltex Corporation holds the remaining 33.33 percent. Titan holds a 90 percent working interest in the NE Natuna PSC, with PT Binatek Reka Natuna holding the balance.
