Indonesia mining company Titan Mining Energy is expecting to produce a total of 2.5 million tons of coal from its mines in Sumatra and Kalimantan in 2012.
Company director Warsito Hans Tanudjaja told Petromindo.Com that initially the company aimed to produce up to 4 millions tons of coal from both regions this year. The company, however, is still busy building infrastructure at its mines. "Thus, the 2.5 million tons output is actually under our initial target," he said.
Hans said that the company has several mines scattered in Jambi and Bengkulu and two regencies in East Kalimantan, namely Kutai Timur and Kutai Barat.
The coal is of low rank type with reserves amounting to about 50 million tons in Bengkulu and about 100 million tons in Kalimantan. The company has been producing coal since 2005 with the initial production of 500,000 tons per year.
