Malaysian firm VS Industry Bhd said it was currently supplying coal from its Indonesian mine to Malaysian state utility firm Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) under the pre-qualification stage of trial shipment and test burn.
If TNB were satisfied with the test burn, it would allow VSI unit PT VS Mining Resources probably after April, to supply the coal on a contract basis, Managing director Gan Sem Yam was quoted by a Malaysian media as saying.
?We have proposed to supply one million tonnes of coal annually for three to five years,? he added.
Gan also said the company had begun supplying coal on a monthly basis to power generation stations in Indonesia, including leading power supplier, Indonesia Power
VS has 45 percent shares in PTVS Mining, which in turn has 100 percent interest in PT. Berkat Banua Inti PTBBI), a coal mining company with mines located in South Kalimantan. (*)
