IDX-listed coal mining firm PT Toba Bara Sejahtra Tbk is planning to participate in the development of renewable power plants in the country to support the government?s program to increase electricity supply in remote regions by taking advantage of local renewables potential.
?We have interest in that direction (renewables development), but so far we have yet to decide on the type of technology. What?s clear, we are quite serious in developing the renewables potential (in the country). This is to supply energy in remote areas which have yet to get electricity supply,? said Head of Investor Relations at Toba Bara, Iwan Sanyoto to Petromindo.com on Thursday.
Iwan said that to become an integrated energy company, Toba Bara will explore various energy potentials to avoid relying on fossil energy.
Toba Bara is planning to develop two coal-fired power plants in North Sulawesi and Gorontalo provinces as part of transformation strategy to become an integrated energy company.
