State-owned electricity company PLN is scheduled this morning to receive bidding documents from participants of the tender for the construction of several coal-fired power plants to be built under the government's fast track program to provide additional power supply of about 10,000 MW between 2007 and 2009.

PLN's president director Eddie Widiono confirmed Tuesday about the schedule given to the qualified participants of the tender to submit their bids. But he refused to elaborate.

As many as 19 companies mostly from China have passed the pre-qualification tender to take part in the construction of 10 coal-fired power plants to be built as part of the fast track program. These power plants will have power generation capacity of between 600 MW and 700 MW.

In addition, 24 other companies, also mostly from China, have also passed the prequalification tender to build several coal-fired power plants, each with a capacity between 300 MW and 400 MW.

The bidders will provide about 85 percent of the required funds for the projects, while the remainder will be provided by PLN. (godang)
