Tondano Court revokes closure ruling on Newmont

The dispute between gold mining firm PT Newmont Minahasa Raya (NMR) and the local Minahasa administration finally ends with a reconciliation, according to the Manado Post.

The paper said that the Tondano Court revoked on Saturday its earlier ruling to shut down the gold mining operation following charges made by the Minahasa administration that Newmont had not paid the so-called C-class mining tax.

But the Court ruled that Newmont must pay the C-class tax on the overburdens.(*)
