Top mining official questioned by KPK

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) questioned on Friday Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources? Director General of Mineral and Coal Bambang Gatot Ariyono as witness in relation to alleged graft committed by Southeast Sulawesi Governor Nur Alam.
Bambang told reporters that he was asked by KPK about policy in relation to the issuance of IUP mining business permits at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. ?I was only asked for information regarding the issuance of mining permit,? he said, but did not provide further details
KPK declared Nur Alam as suspect in alleged graft case in relation to the issuance of nickel mining permits in two regencies in the province during the period of 2009-2014. KPK alleged Nur of violating existing regulations in the issuance of the mining permits and of receiving kickbacks. (*)
