The car leasing tender currently launched by the Balikpapan office of oil company PT Total E&P Indonesia has received a special attention from the local attorney's office following media reports of alleged unfair practices carried out by the company in the tender process, a local newspaper Kaltim Post reported on Wednesday.

"We are closely monitoring the case,” Wahyu, a senior attorney at the Balikpapan attorney's office.

He said that if the tender violated the regulation or being carried out unfairly, the local attorney had the rights to investigate the company for conducting unfair practices.

Earlier reports said that the company had set a particular qualification requirements in its car leasing tender to ensure that only one car brand would be qualified to win the tender.

"If you see the technical specification required by the company it is clear that the tender is especially made to ensure that only Isuzu Panther van can qualify the tender," one of bidders said.

The company which plans to lease dozens of cars from local car distributors in the tender has denied the reports of unfair practices. (*)
