Indonesian unit of French giant Total SA said it had encountered sign of hydrocarbon discovery during a drilling in East Java offshore exploration block.
Total E&P Indonesia General Manager Philippe Armand told Petromindo.com on Thursday that the Borobudur well, which was drilled to the depth of 3,400 meters, encountered oil show during the drilling.
Armand said production test would be conducted next month.
The well is the first well drilled in the block, he said.
Total has 27 percent interest in the block, with Inpex Corp having 22 percent interest. 51 percent interest is held by operator EASCO Sepanjang. (alex)
