Total ends exploration in Bengkulu-1 Mentawai block

Total E&P Indonesia Mentawai B.V. (TEPIM) has ended its entire exploration activities at the Bengkulu-1 Mentawai block as the company failed to find economical hydrocarbon reserves during drilling program of the Rendang-1X exploration well, according to a source.
The source told Petromindo.com on Wednesday that the company had on October 7 returned the working area to the government of Indonesia.
He added that the company, accompanied by the upstream authority SKK Migas southern Sumatra regional office, has also reported the decision to the Bengkulu provincial administration.
As has been previously reported by this portal, TEPIM drilled the Rendang-1X well in July-August 2014.
The block is 100 percent owned by Total E&P through subsidiary Total E&P Indonesia Mentawai BV which was awarded with the block contract on October 2012.
