Indonesian unit of French energy giant Total SA is still evaluating the prospects of South West Birdhead block in West Papua after it failed to make hydrocarbon discovery during a recent drilling program, an official with upstream oil and gas authority SKKMigas said.

?Total is still conducting post drilling evaluation on the block and at this moment has not yet made any decision whether to relinquish the block or submit new drilling campaign program,? VP Management Representative to Total E&P Indonesie Endah Setyaningtyas told Petromindo.Com on Friday.

Total with its partner Indika Energy has drilled the Anggrek Hitam-1X well in 2013. The partnership is required to drill only one well in the block.
