Total E&P Indonesie noted that from October 2012 until January 2013, production at the Mahakam Block in East Kalimantan reached a plateaued level of 250 mmscfd.
Production from the South Mahakam Block is part of the company?s efforts to help slowdown the declining production at the Mahakam Block due to aging fields. ?So this is our effort to cut down the rate of production decline from 50 percent per year to 15 percent,? Kristanto Hartadi, Head of Media Relations Dept at Total E&P Indonesie, told Petromindo.com.
The production target for the Mahakam Block for 2013 is not much different from 2012 at around 1,750 mmscfd.
The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Jero Wacik is scheduled to inaugurate the South Mahakam production in the second week of January.
