Total E&P Indonesie, a unit of French energy giant Total said that gas production from its Mahakam PSC Block in East Kalimantan recorded its highest ever production of natural gas at 2.640 billion standard cubic feet per day (BSCFD). Including the associated condensate and production from the oil fields in the Block, hydrocarbon production peaked at 566,500 barrels of oil equivalent on that day (BOEPD).

This record production achieved during testing of field potential, was made possible by the completion of the Medium Pressure Compressor Platform on the Northern part of the Tunu Field (Tunu Phase VIII Project) and the new Offshore Wellhead Platform at the Peciko Field (Peciko Phase III Project), said Total E&P Indonesie spokesperson Ananda Idris on Thursday.

The Tambora and Tunu fields currently produced around 1,500 MMSCFD, Peciko produces around 1,000 MMSCFD and associated gas from Handil and Bekapai amounts to around 100 MMSCFD, said Ananda.

Natural Gas is exported through pipeline to the Bontang LNG Plant where it is liquefied before being shipped as LNG to Japan, Korea and Taiwan. TOTAL E&P INDONESIE is operator, in a 50% partnership with Japanese company INPEX, of the Mahakam Block at the Mahakam River Delta in East Kalimantan.(godang)
