Total, partners open pre-qualification bid on Bontang LPG sales

Upstream oil and gas authority (BPMIGAS), together with Total E&P Indonesie, Vico Indonesia and Unocal Indonesia, is considering a plan that the sale of LPG from Bontang for the period 2006 onwards on an FOB basis will be made through an open pre-qualification and tender process, according to a statement from Total on Friday.

Total said interested parties who wish to apply for Pre-Qualification were invited to go to www.BontangLPG.com and request the Pre-Qualification documentation including the full ?Notice of Intent?.

BPMIGAS, Total, Vico and Unocal are interested to receive applications from single organisations or groups working together as consortia/joint ventures who are reputable international companies with a long and proven record of operations and experience in the purchase and shipping of refrigerated LPG on a large scale, the statement said.

?Interested Parties that wish to Pre-Qualify must submit all information requested in the ?Notice of Intent? by 31th May 2005,? it said.

The refrigerated LPG is a by-product of the LNG operations at Bontang. LPG production from Bontang has varied in the recent past between 900,000 and 1,150,000 metric tons per year, roughly in the ratio of 55 percent Propane to 45 percent Butane. There may be interest to allocate certain volume to supply domestic requirement. (godang)
