Total starts production at South Mahakam ahead of schedule

Mahakam PSC operator Total E&P Indonesie announced that it has started the production from South Mahakam field in the block, in partnership with Inpex Corporation, about two months earlier than planned.

The newly installed facilities of South Mahakam field Development Phase 1 and 2 projects were put on stream on October 25, 2012 and exported on October 26 to Senipah onshore terminal, it said in a company release.

The production start-up was performed with the gas produced from two wells drilled from Main Stupa platform and the level of production has reached 100 mmscfd on October 28.

The South Mahakam project consists of the phased development of 3 gas condensate fields (Stupa, East Mandu and Jumelai) and 2 gas fields (Jempang and Metulang), located approximately 35 km Southeast of Balikpapan and 58 km South of Peciko field.

The Phase 1 and 2 development consists of production facilities of the Stupa and East Mandu fields with the installation of 3 new platforms (Main Stupa, West Stupa and East Mandu) and the drilling of 19 wells.

Gas and liquids are exported through a new 24? 67 km pipeline from the Stupa platform to Senipah onshore terminal. East Mandu will be connected to the main export pipeline through a 24? 10km long pipeline. Production is expected to ramp up to reach an average flow rate of 69,000 boepd including 18,000 boepd of condensates at the end of 2013.
