Total told to arrest production slide at Mahakam

Upstream authority BPMIGAS expects Total E&P Indonesie (TEPI), the subsidiary of French energy giant Total SA, to seriously arrest the production decline of Mahakam block in East Kalimantan by keeping its drilling program there on schedule.

TEPI has said it would drill 110 wells in the block.

?TEPI needs to carry out its drilling program on schedule and on target. We do not want to see what happens in Peciko field, whose production has declined to 160 mmscfd and 6000 bcpd, to reoccur,? Deputy of Operation Rudi Rubiandini told petromindo.com.

?We do not want to see works without results. That?s why it has to be carried out on time and on target.?

Mahakam is one of the most prolific gas fields in the country and is the biggest supplier of natural gas to the Badak LNG plant in Bontang. But production has been on a decline over the past few years.
