Thousands of employees of Total E&P Indonesia threaten to hold general strike on August 22 if the company refuses to heed to workers? demand to reinstate an incentive that was abolished in 1983, Kaltim Post daily reported Wednesday.
The threat was spelled during a peaceful demo held on Tuesday by some 250 workers at Total?s office in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan.
Ananda Idris, Total?s senior official when contacted by Petromindo.Com said that the workers had promised that the planned strike would not affect production.
Total operates Mahakam Block PSC, which is currently Indonesia?s top gas producer with output of 2.6 BCFD. Total is the main gas supplier to Bontang LNG plant in East Kalimantan. (*)
