Private power company PT Tanjung Power Indonesia (TPI) said that construction progress of its 2x100 MW coal-fired power plant project in Tabalong Regency, South Kalimantan, has reached more than 30 percent.

TPI President Director Mustika Bawono told Petromindo.com recently that the structure for the boiler has been completed, and the company hopes to complete foundation for the boiler this semester to be later followed with the installation of the boiler. No further details were provided.

TPI is 65 percent owned by PT Adaro Indonesia, which is a subsidiary of IDX-listed coal giant PT Adaro Energy Tbk, and the remaining 35 percent is held by PT East-West Power Indonesia, a subsidiary of Korea East-West Power Co Ltd.

The company last month obtained lending commitment worth US$422 million for the estimated $545 million power plant project which is targeted to be completed in 2019. Construction of the project, however, has started since June of last year.
