The Tuban, East Java-based PT Tuban Petrochemical Indotama (TPPI) on Saturday made the shipment of its inaugural RON 88 premium gasoline product at a volume of 24,000 kilo liters.

The product was shipped via MT Fastron vessel owned by Pertamina and arrived Sunday at the Manggis transit terminal in Padang Bai, Bali.

TPPI?s refinery processes part of crude belonging to state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina under a cooperation agreement (tolling) hatched last year to help the heavily-indebted TPPI.

Head of the TPPI workers union Suhariyadi was quoted as saying that the inaugural shipment of the RON 88 premium gasoline product highlighted the company?s refinery capacity in producing various fuel products including premium gasoline, automotive diesel, kerosene, and LPG. Installed capacity for premium gasoline for instance is 50,000 bpd, while for LPG is 160,000 tons per year.

Suhariyadi, however, lamented the fact that the cooperation agreement with Pertamina was set to end on Tuesday May 20. ?There are a total of 700 workers at TPPI, please think of our fate,? he appealed. (*)
