PT Trans Pacific Petrochemical Indotama (TPPI) refinery in Tuban, East Java, has started production since early this month, processing condensate primarily into RON 88 Premium gasoline, which is expected to help reduce the country?s fuel import, Kontan reported on Friday.

The paper quoted TPPI Vice President Director, Basya G. Himawan as saying that production rate runs at 55,000-60,000 bpd.

He said that the refinery has a maximum production capacity of 100,000 bpd, a configuration that would allow TPPI to produce between 1.5 million and 2 million barrels of RON 88 fuel per month. ?That?s about 15-20 percent of fuel import,? he said, adding that over the next three months, TPPI will continue to maintain tolling fee arrangement with state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina in running the refinery.
