Trada Maritime to operate 10 more ships this year

IDX-listed shipping company PT Trada Maritime Tbk will operate 10 more ships in May this year to support the company?s shipping fleet for coal transportation, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Friday.

Two of the 10 ships which comprise 10 pairs of tugs and barges have been delivered and the other eight are expected to arrive in May or June this year, the company?s corporate secretary Asnita Kasmy said.

Asnita said that the ships were purchased from local and foreign shipbuilding companies as part of the company?s plan to operate 50 more ships in five years.

At present, the company operates 22 ships of different types including 10 pairs of tugs and barges., fuel container ships, LNG container ships and floating storage and offloading (FSO) ships.

The new 10 pairs of tugs and barges would be used to transport coal owned by PT Berau Coal Energy. Trada Maritime has secured contracts to transport the company?s coal since 2008. (*)
