Indonesia?s traditional gas export markets such as South Korea, Japan and Taiwan have expressed interest to buy the gas production of Chevron Indonesia Company?s Indonesia Deepwater Development (IDD) project in South Sulawesi.

?Negotiations are still on going. The interested (buyers) for the IDD gas are the traditional markets such as South Korea, Japan and Taiwan,? a source, who requested for anonymity, told Petromindo.com Thursday.

Separately, Chevron Indonesia VP Yanto Sianipar said that he could not yet disclose information about the would-be buyers of the IDD gas as negotiations are still on going. ?We?re still in negotiation. Not yet final,? he told Petromindo.com.

Senior government officials have earlier said that gas from the IDD project, which is expected to begin production in 2015, would be prioritized for the domestic market as long as the price is right and the necessary infrastructure facilities are available.

Export, however, should also be considered to help increase foreign exchange revenue for the country, the officials added.
