Transformer maker PT Trafindo Prima Perkasa is set to boost sales this year as the company has completed expansion of its production facility with a new plant in Tangerang, Banten Province.

The expansion project was completed early this year. ?The plant is now 100 percent complete and ready for full production,? said Irwan Rochandi, Senior Technical Advisor of Trafindo, on the sidelines of the 7th IPP Summit in Jakarta on Tuesday.

The expansion program forms part of Trafindo?s strategy to meet growing demand for transformers amid the government?s target to develop a combined 35,000 MW power plants until 2019.

?The plant is focused on producing transformers required by PLN. Usually, PLN requires medium transformers with capacity of 50-450 kVa,? he said.

Irwan said that in the past, Tranfindo sold around 15,000 units of transformer per year to PLN (60%) and private power companies (40%). This year, the company aims to boost sales of transformers to 18,000 units. ?In the first quarter, sales had reached 7,000 units,? he said, adding that the company?s transformer products contain local content ratio of 50 percent, higher than the minimum 40 percent requirement.
