PT Trans Power Marine Tbk, IDX-listed coal carrier company, will boost the capacity of its carriers and handling equipment such as tugboats, barges and floating crane this year.
"We need an additional 8 to 13 units of tugboats and colliers of 7,500 ton capacity each, and one unit of floating crane," Director of Trans Power Taufiqurroham told Petromindo.com on Tuesday.
The company, which serves PT Adaro Indonesia and PT Trubaindo Coal Mining, currently has 27 units of tugboats and colliers and one unit of floating crane.
Trans Power, a company that has been listed at Indonesia Stock Exchange since February 2013, not only will increase its carriers capacity, but also diversify its business in shipping sector.
The company is planning to reduce the proportion of coal shipment and give larger share for other commodities, such as woodchip, sponge rotary kiln and iron sand.
"Last year, coal made up 96% of the total of our carriers realized capacity. This year, we will scale it down to 70%-75%," Taufiq said.
