Transmission line project in Palu completed

Public utility PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) has finished building a 150 kV high-voltage transmission line linking two substations ? Sidera (Palu Buru) and Silae/Tip ? in Palu, Central Sulawesi province.

The transmission line has a length of 56 circuit kilometers and consist of 89 towers. The energizing or connection process was completed Thursday at 8.20 pm local time, the time the transmission line started delivering power from PLTA Poso hydropower plant to Poso, the capital of the province, PLN said in a statement recently.

Following the completion of the transmission line and delivery of power from PLTA Poso, the capacity of power system in the city has increased by 24 MW. It is expected that the city would no longer have rotation blackout as it did in the past, the firm said.

The project was completed within 40 months, PLN?s spokesperson Agung Murdifi said.

Peakload at Palu?s power system reached 90 MW in the evening and 80 MW during the day.
