Houston-based offshore drilling contractor Transocean Inc is deploying two more jackups rigs, Shelf Explorer and J.T. Angel, to carry out drilling operations offshore Indonesia.

Transocean said in quarterly report that it had completed the mobilizations of J.T. Angel and the rig was expected to commence new contracts in the fourth quarter of 2004.

Transocean, however, did not mention the user of the rig.

Meanwhile, mobilization of Shelf Explorer rig to the country is in progress, with the rig expected to commence a new contract by late fourth quarter of 2004.

Shelf Explorer is contracted by Korea Development Company Energy (Kodeco) from December 2004 to July 2005 with a daily rate of US$48,000. Kodeco is the operator of West Madura Block PSC and Poleng TAC, both located offshore East Java.

In Indonesia, Transocean is currently operating two drilling barges, Hibiscus and Searex 4, and a semi submersible rig, Sedco 601. The two drilling barges are contracted by French-based oil and gas firm Total, while the Sedco 601 is currently working for Australian oil firm Santos Limited. (Robert)
