Metallurgical Corporation of China Ltd announced on Wednesday that the trial run of No. 2 rotary kiln at the SMI Ferronickel Smelting Integrated Project in Morowali, Central Sulawesi was successfully completed after three-day no-load running on Aug. 17, 2014.
The firm was contracted by China 20MCC Construction Goup (20MCC Group) to build the ferronickel smelting plant.
?This marks a key step towards the final operation of the first RKEF Ferronickel Production Line,? the firm said
The construction works of the ferronickel smelting plant was commenced on July 16, 2013, and is expected to be put into operation on Dec. 31, 2014. The first phase of the project covers a land area of 250 ha.
