Batam-based shipbuilding and dockyard company PT Trikarya Alam Shipyard received an order to build 10 vessels for coal carriers, with a capacity of 10,000 tons each, Bisnis Indonesia reported Saturday.
The total value of all the 10 coal carriers is US$70 million.
One from 10 vessels with power of 3200-HP ordered by the PT Jaya Samudera Kurnia was already built and handed over to the buyer. It is carrying coal from South Kalimantan to the coal-fired power plant in Suralaya, Banten.
Trikarya president director David BAK said it will take more or less 11 months to build one ship which has a capacity of 10,000 tons.
?We have succeeded in building one from 10 vessels. We will be building the rest in coming years,? David said at the time of the flag off ceremony for MV Grace Ocean recently. (*)
