He said Tronoh expected to know the results of its bids in Indonesia in the next few weeks, while the tenders for the two power projects in India were still at preliminary stages.
?Our focus will be more on power plant-related either design or build, civil contractor or structural and EPC or EPC partner and looking at IPP (independent power producer) prospects as well as an investor,? Khoo told reporters after Tronoh's EGM in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
Khoo said the pre-qualification was for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) jobs for two 600MW power stations in Central Java.
?We have just been invited to submit a commercial proposal (for the Central Java projects). The tender is based on a two-envelope system,? he was quoted as saying by The Edge Daily.
Khoo said the power stations were part of Indonesia's ?crash program? aimed at accelerating the development of an additional 10,000MW coal-fired power generation by 2009 for the country to cut dependence on oil.
On October 2006, Tronoh participates for pre-qualification phase of the PLTU 2 Jawa Tengah (1x600 MW) in Tanjung Jati and PLTU 1 Jawa Tengah (2x300 MW) in Rembang.
On November 2006, PLN had announced to re-bidding coal-fired power plant PLTU 2 Jawa Tengah (1x600 MW) in Tanjung Jati due to less attracts from the participants. (*)
