Publicly listed PT Truba Alam Manunggal Engineering Tbk, through its subsidiary PT Manunggal Power, has taken over a 51 percent stake in PT Menamas Mitra Energi which operates the Tanjung Batu combined cycle power plant in Samarinda, East Kalimantan, Investor Daily reported Tuesday.
Under the takeover deal, PT Manunggal Power has agreed to provide additional capital of about Rp 30 billion to Menamas in return of the latter’s 51 percent stake, Truba’s president director Arifin Wiguna said in Jakarta Monday.
He said that at present Menamas operated a combined cycle power plant with a capacity of 1 x 20 MW in Tanjung Batu, Samarinda. “Menamas also plans to build another new power plant with a capacity of 1 x 20 MW in the location.
The construction will start in the third quarter of this year, while the operation is expected to commence in the middle of 2008," he said. Like the first one, the second power plant would also use Rolls Royce technology, equipped with a dual system to enable them to use both gas and diesel oil, he said.
He said that the power supply from the two power plants would be sold to state-owned electricity company PLN’s unit in East Kalimantan. (*)
