Indonesian Stock Exchange-listed engineering firm PT Truba Alam Manunggal Engineering Tbk (Truba) through its wholly owned subsidiary PT Enimax Power Energi plans to build a US$600 million,330 MW integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) also known as PLTGU Syngas in Bali.

To execute the plan, Truba has entered into an agreement to acquire 80 percent shares of PT Bhumi Agung Listrikindo, Truba said in statement.

Although they use coal as fuel, IGCC power plants are different from conventional coal-fired power plants. In an IGCC plant, the coal is converted to gas, known as synthetic gas or syngas, which is as clean as natural gas, to power up the turbines to generate electrical power.

According to the company, IGCC is a proven technology. It it is currently being implemented in several countries including China, USA and Italy. (denny)
