Pennsylvania-based waste management services company Delta Mutual, Inc said Thursday its local joint venture company PT Tryhuda-Envirotech had commenced its first permanent oil sludge processing facility at Balongan refinery in Indramayu regency of West Java.

?This initial unit is addressing the environmental concerns of contamination from oil sludge currently contained in pits. The oil recovered from the processed sludge will be returned to the refinery and the wastewater directed to the refinery's wastewater treatment facility,? Delta said in a statement.

According to the statement, the new facility, which is commenced production on Dec. 15, is able to process up to 200 metric tons of oil sludge per day and separates the sludge into low-grade oil and wastewater. The daily amount processed is conditioned by the density of the sludge.

Delta is specializing in energy recovery and construction services through environmentally-friendly technologies and products.

Balongan refinery has a capacity to process 125,000 barrels per day of domestic crude. (Robert)
