A foundation linked to China’s Tsingshan Group has donated battery energy storage systems to electrify remote islands in Indonesia, as the country pushes to expand access to clean energy.

The IWIP Charity Foundation, part of Tsingshan Industrial Holdings, said it had provided 8 megawatt hours (MWh) of grid forming energy storage solutions to two islands to help build stable and reliable off grid power systems.

The systems were supplied by PT Dogo Teknologi Energi, which also handled design, grid simulation and installation.

The solution includes battery storage units, power conversion systems and energy management systems designed to operate independently of the main grid, allowing the islands to maintain stable electricity supply.

The foundation said the project aims to improve living standards by expanding access to electricity in underserved areas while supporting broader energy transition efforts.

The IWIP Charity Foundation said the initiative reflects its commitment to sustainability and to supporting energy access in remote communities.
