Coal miner PT Tuah Turangga Agung (TTA), a subsidiary of PT Pamapersada Nusantara, saw coal production in the first quarter of this year increased slightly to 1.75 million tons from 1.71 million tons in the corresponding period of last year. TTA currently operates six coal concessions in Kalimantan.

Pamapersada President Director Frans Kusuma said on Monday that TTA?s coal output currently comes only from three concessions namely PT Asmin Bara Baronang and PT Agung Bara Prima, both in Central Kalimantan, and PT Kadya Caraka Mulya in South Kalimantan.

The operations of the three other concessions including PT Duta Nurcahaya in Central Kalimantan, PT Prima Multi Mineral in South Kalimantan, and PT Piranti Jaya Utama in Central Kalimantan have been suspended in the wake of lingering coal downturn.

?(Coal production) performance will be driven from Asmin Bara Baronang, while the contribution of the two others is quite small,? he said.

TTA has set coal production target of 4 million tons this year, while sales volume is projected at six million tons. Of the production target, three million tons will be contributed by Asmin Bara Baronang.
