Tuban JOB?s oil output drop due to closure of several wells

Oil production from the Mudi and Sukowati fields onshore East Java operated by the Tuban Joint Operating Body (JOB)comprising of state oil, gas firm PT Pertamina and PetroChina East Java has dropped to 41,000 barrels per day (bpd) from 50,000 bpd as a result of the closure of several wells, Bisnis Indonesia reported Thursday.
JOB?s GM Suryadi Oemar said that the company?s move to close the fields was aimed at reducing noise pollution.
?Our current production now averages 41,000 bpd, after reaching 50,000 bpd. It once dropped to 23,000 bpd because we had to abide by the regulation regarding noise polution limits,? katanya.
The existing regulation set noise pollution at a maximum of 55-56 decibles. The noise polution at the fields is sourced from gas flares, he said
Pertamina has 75 percent stake at the Tuban JOB with PetroChina holding the balance. (*)
