State oil and gas company Pertamina and its American partner Mobil Oil would soon close two of the six liquefied natural gas (LNG) trains in Arun, Aceh, The Jakarta Post reported.
The paper quoted industrial sources in Singapore as saying that one train would be closed on Monday, followed by another one around March.
Spokesman of Pertamina's Foreign Contractors Management Body Sidick A. Nitikusuma confirmed that two of the six trains would be closed "soon".
He said the closure was related to the cut of LNG imports by Japanese buyers Tohoku Electric Power and Tokyo Electric Power.
The Arun LNG complex produces a combined 12.3 million tons of LNG per year. (*)
