Two workers of South Kalimantan coal miner PT. Arutmin Indonesia were trapped in Satui underground mine after an accident happened at the mine on Wednesday night. The accident also caused 4 workers injured, a government official said.

?As per Thursday morning, two workers are still trapped underground,? official from the ministry of energy and mineral resources Witoro told Petromindo.Com.

Arutmin director Endang Ruchiyat confirmed the accident, but declined to comment further. ?I?m on my way to mining site,? he said. He declined to confirm whether the company?s mining site including Satui open pit mining was closed following the accident. ?We?re still checking on it,? he said, but a government official said that standard procedure in Indonesian mining operations was to close down operations as soon as fatal accident happens.

Arutmin is a unit of JSX-listed coal mining house PT. Bumi Resources. The company plans to produce 18 million tons of coal this year from its Satui, Senakin and Batulicin mines. (godang)
