Downstream oil and gas regulating body BPH Migas Tubagus Haryono said that two of the eight companies that passed the first-round selection of the tender to distribute subsidized fuel in 2009 had quitted participating in the tender.
The companies backing down from the tender are Petrobass and Patra Niaga, BPH Migas chairman Tubagus Haryono said.
Six other companies still taking part in the tender are Pertamina, Shell, AKR, Bumi Asri Prima Pratama, Petronas and Trans Pacific Petrochemical Indonesia (TPPI).
"Patra Niaga decided to quit probably because it is a subsidiary of Pertamina, while Petrobas could not meet requirements related to storage facilities and distribution system," he said before attending a hearing between BPH Migas and the House of Representatives?s Commission VII in Jakarta on Monday.
