PT Bank Syariah Mandiri (BSM) has agreed to provide loans of up to Rp 25 billion to coal mining companies PT Dianlia Setyamukti and PT Satui Baratama, Investor Daily reported on Thursday.

Hariwijaya, a senior executive of the bank, said in Jakarta on Wednesday that PT Dianlia and PT Satui were among a number of mining companies applying for loans from the bank.

According to him, the demand from mining companies to get loans from BSM has indicated a significant increase lately. “But, as part of our prudential system, we will only provide loans to those which have begun production,” he said.

BMS plans to expand its lending to oil, gas and mining companies by about 20 percent next year to take the advantage of the country’s growing activities in the oil and gas and mining sector.(*)
